An Open Letter to Tonya Craft

Well, Tonya, you and the "Dream Team" really did it. This case is over, but it never will be over, not for the rest of your life. Yet, it is up to you to take revenge in the best way possible: living well.

I cannot imagine what you have gone through, and how utterly hard it must have been when reporters were knocking on doors in your old neighborhood asking people if they knew that a "child molester" lived nearby. You declared your innocence, but few believed, and, to be frank, few wanted to believe.

We live in the Age of the Almighty Prosecutor, and the prosecutors of the Lookout Mountain Judicial District have run their offices as though they were fiefdoms, taking challenges from no one. They targeted you and the rest, well, is history.

That utter moment of relief does not make up for what you must have felt during those awful days, when your name was being destroyed by the likes of Channel 9 reporters, which apparently decided from the start that you were guilty and became essentially the PR wing of the prosecutors. Nor can it make up for what you have lost in all of those days in which you could not be with your children. The lost income, the losing of your house, and the losing of nearly everything else must define those days in large part.

However, what they could not take away from you was your own spirit and determination and your will to fight these false charges. You would not give up, and that is why you are standing as a free woman today.

I can only imagine what it was like when people turned their backs on you, and when the gossip flowed like water in a baptismal pools. (Actually, much of the gossip DID come from people who attend churches with nice, big baptismal pools, and where gossip supposedly is sin.) I can only imagine what it was like when that psychopath Nancy Grace told you that you were guilty. Why? Well, you were charged with a crime, and for people like Grace and her good friend Wendy Murphy, that is all it takes.

Good grief, the people who were against you seemed legion. Baptist churches of Northwest Georgia sent people to back the prosecutors and even a high-profile employee of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes took part in going after you. (Note to athletes in the Chattanooga area that are Christians: Think twice before having anything to do with an organization that preaches the Bible, yet violates it in the worst possible way.)

But you continued to fight, and you made that important trip to Michigan to find Dr. Demosthenes Lorandos, and by doing so, brought The Real Man (as opposed to the narcissistic prosecutor at the other table who refers to himself as "The Man") into the courtroom. Men like Dr. Lorandos are rare, indeed, and they are formidable in legal circles, even when they are hog-tied in a courtroom as was Dr. Lorandos and the rest of your lawyers.

Before we speak of the aftermath, let us revisit that "House" of Horrors known as an alleged courtroom where you had to park yourself for the last month. What was done to you was criminal: no other word will suffice. Indeed, if you want to know where the REAL conspiracy was centered, it was in that courtroom, as a judge and his two henchmen conspired time and again to deprive you of your civil rights to a fair trial.

Let me be more specific. House, Arnt, and Gregor were not guilty of overzealousness or even bad judgment. What they did was much, much worse because they teamed up to keep much of the evidence that would have exonerated you out of the courtroom. They harassed your witnesses and then called your four expert witnesses, who are well-respected in their fields (to put it mildly), "whores" and liars.

In a real courtroom with a real judge, a number of witnesses for the prosecution would not have been permitted to give their "I just remembered" testimony. In a real courtroom with a real judge, Joal Henke's sudden "recovered memory" of some alleged lesbian activities on your part would not have been told to the jury. In a real courtroom with a real judge, Tim Deal could not have claimed to be the detective who had witnessed the deus ex machina revelation to Suzi "I Don't Remember" Thorne when nothing like it had been entered into discovery.

In a real courtroom with a real judge, There is no way that "The Man" could have been permitted to engage in the kind of cross-examination (Lord, that word gives dignity to the racist-sexist show put on by Facebook's partner) that you faced just last Friday afternoon. In a real courtroom with a real judge, "He's on cross," or "He's on closing" would never have come from the mouth of the person wearing the black robes. In a real courtroom with a real judge, the prosecutors would not have been allowed to call your respected expert witnesses "whores" and liars.

A while back, a friend of mine was on trial in federal court in Brooklyn in a very high-profile financial misconduct case. Like you, he had some very good attorneys, and like you, the prosecution had a very weak case. Unlike you, he had a no-nonsense judge (age 75) presiding who kept both prosecutors and the defense attorneys on a short leash.

While the trial was going on, I told my friend that the legal show he was seeing was so interesting and entertaining that it was easy to forget the prosecutors wanted to have him put away for the rest of his life. As in your trial, his attorneys put the prosecutors on their heels from opening statements, and in the end, both of you heard a jury declare those wonderful words: "Not guilty."

So, where from here? First, you need a rest, if that is possible. (No, you sure as heck won't get a rest today in the Big Apple making the rounds of the talk shows.) But I mean more than just a "rest" in which you get some sleep or head for a spa for a week.

No, I mean something much deeper. You and your husband, David, have been through the marital equivalent of nuclear war, but now the smoke is clearing and the radiation dissipating. Still, there are dangers aplenty. Furthermore, there are the child custody battles (although a man who would commit perjury on the stand to frame an innocent woman of child molestation should not have custody of ANY children, even his own), and future lawsuits, of which I will speak shortly.

Furthermore, you are Suddenly Famous, and while that may mean money and other things that come with it, nonetheless this kind of quick fame has its downside, and you have to recognize the problems even before they make an appearance. You have a very good head on your shoulders, and I can guarantee you that you need to put that brain on high alert as you move into the time when people everywhere recognize your name.

Nonetheless, you and David need to work out this aftermath, for I promise you that these experiences will continue to bring challenges to your relationship. That is where your friends, family, and church family come into play. There are a lot of people who know you who want this marriage to succeed as long as both of you inhabit the earth, and you will find them as great a resource in that area as you found them to be a source of real strength as they stood behind you despite the charges you face.

As I mentioned before, there is the battle for your children. They do not need to stay in the Henke household for another minute, as both Joal and Sarah were willing to commit perjury to ruin your life. ("Matted hair"? Yeah, right.) While it will be strenuous, nonetheless I believe you will be successful there, too, as no court and no judge in the Chattanooga area is going to disregard you now.

And, now the lawsuits. This should be interesting. While judges and prosecutors have strong immunity (but not total immunity, although in real life it seems that way), the police and the "investigators" of the Children's Advocacy Centers in North Georgia are wide open. I only hope the CAC's "Casino Night" fund-raiser on Friday nets the organization lots and lots of dollars so that lots and lots of dollars can flow from them to you.

I cannot imagine the rich lawsuit targets that exist, and they are going to take up a goodly part of your life for a while. Furthermore, justice is not easily gained; the three wrongly-indicted Duke Lacrosse players still await even the discovery phase nearly three years into their original suit. That is the reality of civil courts, so you have to keep that in mind.

Nonetheless, I believe that some people need to be held accountable, as they were NOT held accountable during this whole disgusting process. There is no way that someone as incompetent and dishonest as Laurie Evans should have been allowed to speak to your children, and the fact that she was a prized "investigator" with the CAC tells us that it is an organization that values lies over the truth.

If you bring action against these malevolent people, you not only will be helping to restore your good name, but you also will be protecting FUTURE families, as these are the kinds of people who are quick to allege abuse where it did not happen. For all of their talk about "selflessness" and "protecting children," no one should forget that the more accusations they make, the more money the government gives them through the Mondale Act. There just is too much abuse of truth and of the system for these people to be permitted to act as though nothing happened.

Accountability is vital here, and you can assure yourself and everyone else that you are suing these people because they were permitted to assault your reputation, you family, and your freedom. Indeed, these things happened precisely because no one in the legal system held the Usual Suspects to any accountability at all.

So, no, you are not a "gold digger," although some will call you that. Heck, you can take that. After all, many of the same people before were calling you a child molester.

You cannot imagine the things you have accomplished through your courage, your faith in God, your endurance, and your will literally to live. You have brought down a racket in which prosecutors claiming they were "protecting children" could go to the CAC for "one-stop prosecutorial shopping," get all of the "expert" testimony you needed, and Tim Deal would try (although not very well, frankly) to put all of it together into a semi-coherent narrative.

The media loved these "heroes," and anyone targeted could not stand up to them. So, because of this racket (no other word really suffices), innocent people go to prison, the press lionizes Facebook and The Man for ridding the district of "child molesters," and the players get their Mondale Act money.

And then you came along with your attorneys (Lord bless them) and threw a nice, big bomb into the whole thing and blew it up, exposing the lies and corruption. For all of the legal talk, let me tell you what you just did: You busted up probably the biggest and most virulent crime ring in North Georgia.

Forget the meth labs and the secret pot plants. The real criminal conspiracy lies with the prosecutors, the police, and the CAC, and all are in a state of shock today. All because you fought back with dignity, grace, and your willingness to bring a gun to a knife fight.

So, enjoy the day, and enjoy your fame. You deserve it, and then there is the rest of your life to live. Better to live it as a free woman than one who is incarcerated.

I would ask everyone commenting not to say anything more about Miriam Boyd. Now, I don't think what she did was right, but she has been raked over the coals enough for now.

However, I do consider the other witnesses for the prosecution to be fair game. They chose to commit perjury for the very worst of reasons, and now there is no place to hide.

I for one would like to echo everything that was said in the letter. I am so proud of you Tonya. You were the symbol of strength even though I am sure you felt weak, you held your head up even though I am sure it was very hard to do, you told the truth when there were so many lies being told around you. You are the hero. You took charge of your life and the truth. I cried when the verdict was read. I knew like so many others that I had prayed to God that the jurors saw the truth whatever that was. I knew in my heart you were innocent but I didn't know if the jurors would see what I saw. I am so glad God showed them the truth.

You are an amazingly strong woman. You have won this fight. it is now time to win the war. Go after YOUR children. All the lies that Joel and Sarah told to your children will not be remembered when those children see their REAL momma. Go get what is yours.

Keep your head lifted high. Never forget the ones who were behind you from the start (I am not talking about the blog world). Know that each day is precious.

I can't wait for the day that I read that your children are placed back into your arms where they belong. Please know that there were hundreds probably thousands out here that don't know you personally but was praying for you.

Psalm 121

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

You are a better woman than you know, Tonya. You have faced what seemed like insurmountable odds and overcome. You have done it gracefully. I hope that the prosecution and others involved with the witch hunt get the pleasure of enduring similar hardships in the months and years to come.

Tonya you are such an inspiration to anyone facing trying and challenging times, not to mention being wrongfully accused! At one point you lost everything that mattered most to you and you STILL held your head high and charged full speed ahead. You're an inspiration to me, my friends and family. I've never met you but one day I'd love to!

I've prayed for you since I saw your story on Channel 3 in March 2010 (that was the first I had heard about it). I prayed that God would cradle you and your children in his arms and protect and comfort all 3 of you during these most challenging times. I know that our God did that! Yesterday I watched the live verdict I prayed, cried and rejoiced for you. I even caught myself holding my breath as they got closer and closer to Count 22 and I kept hearing 'Not Guilty'. I can only imagine how great it felt to walk out of that courthouse a FREE and INNOCENT woman! I cried even more when I thought about that.

Last night my prayers still included God cradling you and your children in his arms and protecting all 3 of you and I will probably always pray for you, I've followed your case since March and you've really left an impact on me in my life.

Thank you Tonya for your strength, determination and faith in our God!

Tonya, You are an incredibly strong person, and I can only hope that had I found myself in your position, I could have handled it and myself nearly half as well as you have. You truly have been a shining example of courage and dignity.

As I'm sure you were aware, you were not alone through your ordeal, and you are not alone now. During your trial, your supporters here could not do much more than bring information to light and try to keep those who wished you harm off guard by taking them strongly to task. Although we'll probably never know the exact impact, I take great satisfaction in knowing that we were able to in at least some small way cause them to keep one eye on us at times instead of both of them fixed on you all of the time.

As we move forward, and you proceed with whatever actions you choose to take, know that you still are not alone. Many of us who live here and were outraged by the travesty of what happened to you are not quitting now either. Instead, we are organizing and getting ready to take the first steps to finally begin the long overdue task of cleaning out the corruption in our communities to help ensure justice and fairness for all.

I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.

on the 11:00 news last night something was said about Tonya getting death threats yesterday before the verdict came in and it was said one of the girls mothers had said "Tonya will not walk out of the court room alive" Was this woman arrested, or will she be for making death threats?

Tonya, I echo what William said and one more thing. Your absolute courage during this time brought out those of us who faced or are facing false allegations of child molestation. We polarized into what is the beginning of a group determined to change this system. Even though our efforts are small, it is due to you that we're coming forward. The system is broken. Can it be fixed? Only time will tell, but we will stand up despite adversity and make ourselves known. Truth for Tonya reaches further than you can have ever imagined. Keep fighting for what you believe in. We're with you every step of the way.

i respect your opinions, sir, however, railroading a CAC is, simply put, not cool. i can accept the fact that there were inept forensic interviews carried out, but a CAC does not set out to wrongfully accuse someone. they do good work. now, as for the CAC in the LMJD, i think the issue is ineptness. sadly, because a CAC serves the needs of a children. one cannot be apathetic, ignorant, or complacent about the fact that children are sexually abused. i'm glad for tonya. i'm sad for the kids. but please, don't group CACs into one heap of "they're bad."

Surely..Surely anyone assiciated with the assusers would make any kind of death threat to her before or during the trial. This would be very telling and way beyond stupid. If so I would expect them to plead insanity in court.
WHAT a case.

Parents, please be on high alert. I worry that "real" child abusers will see this situation as a free pass to harm children, at least for awhile. They may think the system is completely broken and since it has lost some respect and credibility, no one will come after them. Keep your children close by your side.

Tonya, again my mom, LaRaye, and I would like to tell you how proud we are of you. What a beautiful person we have always known you to be and we will continue to support you and fight for you in any way possible.

I have posted on last night's blog here that I will be speaking with Senator Jeff Mullis today regarding your case and legislation he plans to introduce next year that the horrendous mishandling of this case spawned. Of all the politicians and "influential" entities I contacted, he was the only one who responded. Imagine that...a Chickamauga native...but, he appears to care and wants to listen.

You were such an amazing support system for me in the aftermath of the abuse I suffered as a teenage girl. You were my friend and supporter and spent countless days and nights standing by my side. See, people like your accusers have no clue what true friendship and loyalty are. It's not in being in someone's house, life, face, business every waking moment. It's in being there for them however possible, never forgetting the sacrifices they made for you, standing beside them even when they don't know you are there and always believing in them. YOU are a friend and it is my honor to finally be able to repay just a small amount of what your friendship meant to me and continues to mean for me today. Losing touch and growing older doesn't determine friendship, love does.

I can remember us sitting up nights when we were in High School talking about our dreams of being moms. You're eyes just danced and that precious smile would spread across your face at the mere thought of being a mommy. God breathed that into you. It's just who you are. Now, GO GET THOSE BABIES!!! They are YOURS. GOD gave them to YOU because he knew there was no better person He'd ever created to protect and love them.

Mr. Anderson... Thank you for such amazing work!!!
I will continue to send letters and e-mails until justice is served to the guilty parties in this case... Sandra Lamb, Sherry and Dewayne Wilson, Joel Henke, Brian House, Chris "facebook" Arnt, Len "the man" Gregor, and Tim Deal... I still do not understand how it is possible that a terrorist organizes and executes a plan to fly our jets filled with our citizens into our buildings and kills more of our citizens and HE gets a FAIR trial and this poor woman cannot... Now folks that's twisted... THANK GOD SHE WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY!!!
I must say that I am envious of her strength, I don't know that I would or could be as strong given the same situation. She is such an amazing woman, her faith in God and her family is clearly unbendable... I have a feeling that in a few years she as well as her family will be free of financial burden, as someone will buy the movie rights to this story... At the risk of sounding like a total cornball, this is a Lifetime movie waiting to happen. Maybe Reagan Lamb can play herself! HA... As passionate as some of Kerwyn's posts have been, maybe she should play the part of Tonya... Jim Carrie could be House, because his behavior is a total joke...
Tonya I am so proud of you... You are amazing!!!

I heard this too and was wondering the same. If it even crossed their lips for a split section they should have been taken directly to jail without passing "go", but we are in Catoosa Co. God knows, God sees, and God reigns! They can threaten all they want but I believe God has a hedge of protection around her and their sins will find them out just like before.

Manny,

I have not seen you post here before, so I shall give you a little bit about myself.

I am a SANE/FNE (Forensic Nurse Examiner).

The testimony I listened to from the experts of the CAC and others was, frankly, astonishing. To see the profession I love represented by such an incredible level of sheer incompetency and was so unprofessional that it was literally painful to witness.

Do good work? How many, Sir, how many children did this group destroy. How many families did this group destroy with their inept and frankly dishonest tactics?

How can you defend such things? Perhaps instead you should be on their door step demanding that ever single person who comes into contact with children and their families are CURRENT in their chosen fields. Not this "I took a seminar a few years ago" embarrassment, but actually current.

You should be on their door step demanding to see how they are documenting their sessions and is it being done to an industry standard (yes we have those). You should be demanding to see how their accountability procedures are written. You should be demanding to look at every single employees notebook.

Notebook you say? For the rest of us in the profession, every single blessed employee has a notebook that is in a public area. In that notebook resides every single degree, class, certification, seminar or ongoing training that you have had, when you had it and the proof of that. THAT notebook is "public" information. Anyone can ask to see it.

You see? THAT is accountability. Every time I get a new certification, every time I pass a new class or every time I earn an award of excellence I run to that notebook with pride, place my new little document in and KNOW that at a given moment ANYONE can look and say, wow she has the training.

I PAY for 90% of my training out of my own pocket. That is the burden every single person in my profession willingly takes on. Why? Because being as educated as one can possibly be brings only success and the best possible care for our clients.

The proudly uneducated, ill prepared and obviously dishonest employees who were representative of CAC terrify me. They have painted that entire organization with a black brush.

Manny, how many other innocent people have those morons put in prison with their lies? People who could not afford JUSTICE.

I suggest rather than you coming here and whining about poor little CAC, you man up, go there and DEMAND they become a shining example of professional behavior, where healing takes first place to ego and where TRUTH actually has value.

Go be an honorable man, stop these people from destroying more lives and stop coming here whining about how good a job they do.

Oh yes Manny, they did a great job didn't they....... Tell that to the 3 girls and 3 families they have destroyed.

What an idiotic fear mongering statement. Real child abusers tend to leave REAL evidence of their crimes and no one opposes prosecuting suspects when there is actual evidence.
Also you nitwit, child molestors don't go around snatching children from their parents willy-nilly. It is this kind of ignorant hysterical illogic that created such a paranoid climate in the first place.

Manny (and ALL others reading),

There is no argument that the CAC was a big part of the problem in this case ...well, unless your debating with "Casino Night" crowd and Captain Whiskey at the local CAC.

Like all regulatory tools used across this nation, they all start out with good intentions, but ...next thing you know we have a Tonya.

I say put all of the CAC's in "one heap of "they're bad,"" for any undeserving of such a judgment will weather all accusations and most likely progress to serving the children better as a result of what is exposed at those in which that judgment is accurate.

Consider this fact;

"...of the roughly 3.5 children investigated as a result of reports alleging child abuse every
year, more than 2.7 million of them are victims of false allegations."

VICTIMS
Tonya is NOT the only victim of the Child Protective Services in this nation and she knows it, even expressed such in interviews after the verdict had showed she was a victim of these systems in her case.

My admiration for Tonya grew 10-fold last night, as I watched her tell the public she is aware of how many other victims are out there which have suffered from false allegations similar to what she just experienced.

She let us know she wants to do all she can now to prevent the system from actually harming children and their parents, often the result of the deprivation of rights those CAC's and other entities practice.

Tonya has shown us how strong she can be, and more so, how intelligent she is in the way she went about setting up a defense for herself in a situation she had absolutely no experience or knowledge about what to expect.

For some reason I feel assured she will successfully accomplish whatever goals she establishes in her lifetime, that most others will be envious of the goals she establishes for herself, and that such will be fine examples any would be proud to replicate (if we could!).

I don't think that 8:49 meant their statement as you took it.

I was discussing with my husband last night the similar thing. My fear, as a mother of 3, is that the real molesters are going to end up getting a lot more leniency due the "Ringgold Mafia"...AND who's to say that the pedofile who lives down the street WON'T see this as a prime opportunity?

My hope is that Catoosa Co. will now actually INVESTIGATE such claims, but we also run the risk of them sweeping some important facts under the rug as to not be humiliated once again. It is a sad, sad situation all around.

And, honestly, name calling and ridicule don't solve anything. I have always watched my children closely, and will continue to do so.

Also, child molesters DO on occasion "snatch" (as you put it) from their parents...i.e. The ACE Harware incident last year on E. Brainerd Road in Chattanooga, and the infamous Adam Walsh come to mind immediately. The pedofile in Chatt. admitted that had he gotten away with the little girl, he had planned some very horrible things that would have ended in death.

Please know that I mean no harm, just asking you to choose your words more carefully. We ALL need to stick together, now more than ever.

Catoosa Mom,

That "lot more leniency" could be a concern, but should that be the case, it just tells us that the system has failed both ways - prosecuting the innocent and ignoring the actual victims.

Just means it is a system broken in more ways, so the next step would be to determine what good they are.

Seriously, I anticipate they'll immediately work a little harder to NOT make the same mistakes and hopefully know that charging the innocent just so they will not miss any guilty parties is a process that needs to be avoided.

INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!!
Mrs. Craft was found not guilty by a jury of her peers. The prosecution was not able to PROVE she was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of said charges...ALL 22 counts "not guilty". The childrens testimonies were not enough...and should NEVER be enough to send a person to prison, espeacialy when how they came about is questionable.
When it comes to our legal system...what is society seeking...justice or revenge? Put it another way...Why do so many feel that justice is only served when the "accused" are found guilty and punished by the harshest means available? (Which never seems to be enough).
In todays legal system we now know that many, many people (black, hispanic, white...male, female) have been wrongly convicted based on poor evidence simply because of a voracious need for vengence...That is not true justice.

Congradulations to Mrs. Craft and her family.

Mr. Anderson I live on Sycamore a few houses up from Tonya. You are wrong that few believed she was innocent. Many believed and many rallied behind her and proclaimed her to be innocent. The proclamation of guilt was by a select few in our community and we need and appreciate you help in flushing them out and preventing an injustice from taking place. 92% of the people in our community believed her to be innocent according to polls. About 7% werent sure. Thanks so much for your help in getting information out there.

Please everyone remember as Tonya's supporters, in many ways, we represent/cast a reflection of her from our actions and what we say/write here and on any other blog or social networking site. She has handled the most henious of charges with such grace, pride and courage. I want to ask everyone else to maintain that as well- we owe that to her. We don't need to bully others for their comments. By doing that we don't look any better than the '3 Stooges of LMJC'. And remember sometimes the way we read things is not the way the author intended them to be read/understood.

I, like everyone else, have the highest respect for Tonya Craft! She's an amazing woman- I admired how she handled herself during this whole mess. After watching interviews of her last night and this morning; the admiration and respect has doubled.

She's an amazing woman and we all need to make sure we make her proud as supporters. Granted I have thought lots of things that I'd like her to do to all of the MONSTERS in Catoosa County and I've disagreed with comments left on this blog, however, if we begin to attack each other we're no better than the evil in Catoosa County. We need to unite for Tonya, support her, pray for her and her children.

tplas says...Wow, where to begin. I, like everyone else that has followed this trial, cried tears of joy as I heard not guilty over and over. I cried for the children and how their lives are forever changed. I cried for Tonya because even though the jury gave a not guilty verdict, her life will never be the same. I cried for the crazy parents involved as they have the responsibilty to mend the lives of these children and I'm so afraid of how that will transpire. I cried for the families of the 3 stooges because however we feel about them and their misconduct, their families are negatively affected. This is their job, and yes they need to be taken out of their position but it's what gives them a paycheck to provide for their family. I would hate to think what would happen to my family (children) if my husband lost his payck....for whatever reason. I still pray the Lord will change their hearts, take away their rest, make their beds hard as rocks, give them a conscience, and see what is so clear to the rest of the world. I don't see that happening right now though, or death threats would not have been made toward Tonya. Just as everyone has said, this is only the beginning. This trial will be talked about for years to come. We are seeing history being made.

Now, on a funny note, how about EVERYONE of us put a call into the school board of Chickamaga Elementary School and give them our "opinion." I'm sure we all feel she deserves back pay for the last 2 years. The phone number is 706-382-3100. Elementary School Receptionist ext. 1000. We can also email the board members. Here is website that lists all the members....http://chickamaugacityschools.org/central/boe.html.

After looking over the school's website, I find it rather amusing what they claim to be their "Mission".

Our Mission
The Chickamauga City School System will provide a comprehensive, high-quality education for all students in an engaging, safe and supportive environment.

If you "supported" Ms. Craft, I would hate to see how you treat people that you do not support.

Well said! If you know Tonya, you know her to be a class act. While pursuing justice for Tonya, we all need to be very careful not to become the very thing that caused this whole ugly situation.

First let me state I'm ecstatic Ms. Craft was acquitted.

My question though is this, are the prosecutors and judge more or less likely to find themselves in troubled waters because of this outcome ?

Catoosa Mom said...

Per Callie Starnes at WRCB.

"Seems Judge Brian House has ordered the jury list be sealed and kept from the media/public."

Does this mean that if they choose to speak out, they can? Can reporters ask them questions if they are given their information from an outside source?

Is this normal for jurors to do so?

Jerri Lynn Ward, J.D. said...

Re: sealing the jury list:

I find this very interesting, coupled with the report yesterday that the deputies would not allow the media to interview the jury yesterday:

"Weary jurors were loaded immediately on buses, while deputies, lining the streets, held back the crowd. Driven in a bus to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office, where their cars were waiting, jurors gathered to give a statement to Chattanooga Times Free Press reporters.

"Come here. Come here," the jury foreman, who has not been named by the court, said to the other jurors. "We're going to present a united front."

Sheriffs deputies cut him off, saying that Sheriff Phil Summers had barred media from the sheriff's complex.

"The verdict speaks for itself," the jury foreman said after telling jurors to disperse and instructing them to comply with the deputies."

http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2010/may/12/verdict-brings-wide-range-of-emotions/?local

I suppose the judge can justify sealing the list by pointing the the death threats made against Tonya, but the action appears to me more like damage control.

Anonymous said...

@Kerwyn...thanks for the wordy attack. however, if you look back at my post, i did use the word "inept" in connection with those responsible for the interviews, yes, the LMJDCAC. You mentioned the "incredible level of sheer incompetency and was so unprofessional that it was literally painful to witness." We agree on that. So, talking down to me, that's cool, but what have you proven. I'm very familiar with SANE/FNE. But I'm not here to give credentials. I do stand by my earlier statement of not lumping all CACs into one heap of bad. Just because the interviewers in this case were atrocious doesn't make you an atrocious does it? Well, there are plenty of CACs out there with qualified and certified individuals such as yourself.

William L. Anderson said...

Manny,

I appreciate your concern for children and you have every right to defend the CAC. I have no problem with that.

However, the CAC witnesses clearly were in over their heads. Professionals do not smirk, roll their eyes, shrug their shoulders, giggle, and then, frankly, commit perjury on the stand. That is what they did, and since the CAC has been behind these people, there is no way the organization can avoid getting the blame.

Furthermore, the CAC is terribly liable and to make matters worse, worked hand-in-glove with two prosecutors who utterly trashed the reputation of the VERY FOUNDER of the CACs in Georgia. That was not an intelligent thing to do, and I am sure that Dr. Nancy Aldridge is going to have to deal with those attacks.

So, THAT is the problem that we have addressed. It is not good enough just to SAY you want to protect children. One must act within the bounds of the law and not engage in dishonesty.

jp said...

If there any qualified & certified CAC individuals, they should be polishing off their resumes and looking for a new line of work. CAC will be one of the first to be forced to compensate the victims for their actions.

CAC will be bankrupt in the near future and dismantled. Good riddance!

I, like most everyone else am encouraged by the outcome of Tonya's trial. However, it is so hypocritical for ANY of you to continuosly sterotype organizations like the FCA. One bad apple does not spoil the whole bunch in EVERY organization. Granted people such as the Lambs, Wilsons, Boyds, and all the other infamous Hags give Christianity a bad name. But not all Christians or Baptist for that matter believe that their good works or money will get them into heaven. Didn't the DA's (I think we all know what that stands for!) try to Sterotype Thong wearers, partiers and the like? And obviously you people that are not from here can't get it clear that NONE of the people associated with this trial are from Chickamauga, nor do they live in Chickamauga. Tonya was teaching at Chickamauga because she, like most everyone else recoginized it as being a Great School. Of all people, WE ALL who have followed this case, should know the importance in getting the FACTS STRAIGHT. Good news, It will not cost you anything to do that! Don't be a NEWS CHANNEL NINER and wait till the whole world knows the truth before you admit it! Thank you Mr. Anderson for the info and the venue to communicate!

Also, child molesters DO on occasion "snatch" (as you put it) from their parents...

Correction: the vast majority of perps don't attempt to snatch strangers off the street, that is why when it does happen, it makes big news.

If a child volunteers without prompting that ol' Chester down the street invited them in for candy and proceed to remove their clothes and "bad touch" them, gives details without prodding, the police search the suspect's home and computer and find child porn galore; I doubt they will get much leniency from the court. That is what I mean by REAL evidence...how hard can it be??

kbp said...

"bitter divide," community divided, split among neighbors

From miles away you can see that this "bitter divide " is a line planted to 'assist the memories' of any following the media on the case, a spin that does not appear to exist in any manner even close to the magnitude some reported.

The polls all showed the inaccuracy of that statement. There are very few on record the past month as showing support for the prosecution, and the main culprit there is Channel Nine.

William L. Anderson said...

And Manny, you are right. There are good CAC people, but the North Georgia places don't fall into that category, unfortunately. So, there will be a need to do some real housecleaning.

I do appreciate your comments. I really do, and am glad to have you posting.

William L. Anderson said...

Regarding the FCA, had the director, Jay Fowler, not told me off and hung up on me, I might have handled things differently. Julie Watson has a very visible position in the community, and by spreading rumors, she openly despised the Very Word of God she says she supports.

Not a good thing. Had Fowler tried to do something about it, then I would have handled things differently, but because he chose to attack me instead, then he had to understand there would be consequences.

I hope we will hear more from the jury despite House's attempt to silence that peanut gallery and put some damage control on this situation. The small snippet the lead juror articulated did almost say it all, but it would be very interesting to find out what they thought of the "evidence", the behavior of the prosecution and their witnesses and the fact that defense evidence was kept from them. I think I detected some frustration and strong feelings in the lead juror's statement and would be interested to hear him elaborate.

The jury are heroes in this case and deserve praise and accolades for a job well done!

PLEASE!

Would any and all associated with the LMJD CAC which may show substantiated evidence of their efforts to correct problems they were aware of that have created injury for children and parents resulting of procedures that have assisted in any false allegations step forward?

...nobody? Let's try it a different way then.

Will any within that group that are NOW aware of such conduct and will assist in pointing out the records necessary to verify such so that it may be corrected and the individuals involved be held responsible for their conduct please step forward?

Anon 8:49 did not say anything about children being snatched from parents or real evidence being available. Tonya's case had no children snatched from parents or real evidence available and looked what happened to her. Perhaps 9:47 should re-read the comment and not add words and emotion to something that was not said or even alluded to. The point I got was that if the attention of the authorities and those in positions created to protect children, such as the CAC, are distracted from trying to clean up whatever damage the system has created, who is available to investigate other cases? I find nothing idiotic, paranoid, or hysterical about that.
ie. If a bank is being robbed on the south side of town and all of the law enforcement in town rushes to the scene, who is policing the banks on the north side of town?

kbp said...

Manny,

I apologize if my comments appeared in any way to focus a negative response on YOU, personally. Sometimes my wording has a tendency to be taken by others in a manner I do not mean for it to be (my bad!).

I should actually thank you for bringing the topic addressed to the table for discussion.

When we have one reputable source telling us that SEVENTY SEVEN PERCENT (77%) of the investigations of reports are FALSE ALLEGATIONS, and then see that the local authorities and agencies who handled Tonya's case are batting about 713 for 1,000 in "substantiated" claims investigated, it's a given something there is broken, needs to be fixed. (God forbid the population actually having the cultural traits that would produce such a society!)

SUBSTANTIATED REPORTS:
LMJD CAC = 71%
National = 23%

The over-reporting is a national problem that starts to look like the LMJD solved on the local level by just fabricating the missing parts needed to up the performance reports so all will celebrate and join in.

The first step in the assignment for an "overhaul" might be accomplished quicker if they listed what is not broken there.

I truly hope everyone will see what has happened, the injustice that was served (thank God the jury saw through it) and how it very easily could have been them.

Think twice before having anything to do with an organization that preaches the Bible, yet violates it in the worst possible way

In other words, a good general rule is to avoid organized and incorporated "churches" altogether, and not just in Northern Georgia. Given the repulsive behavior of many prominent self-professed "Christians" in this whole sordid affair (and others like it, in the LMJD and elsewhere), it's small wonder that certain other alternatives to traditional churches are gaining widespread traction among TRUE believers.

"Seems Judge Brian House has ordered the jury list be sealed and kept from the media/public."

Well, I am sure that this was done as an attempt for damage control by House. However, it is also in the jury's best interest. If jury member wants to talk, they should be able to do so. I one wants their privacy, they should have it. I can imagine that some if not most of the jury want to just get on with their lives. Let's not forget the death threats to Tonya. We cannot forget that these people have to LIVE there and the snakes are not gone yet. Praise for the jury's courage and wisdom.

William L. Anderson said...

House cannot hide forever, and it seems that Gregor is "taking time off." These people are in real trouble, and while it almost is impossible to bring criminal charges against them, given the immunity statutes, nonetheless they will be facing possible disbarment and public humiliation.

Tonya,

I am glad for your exoneration. I pray that the Lord will quickly heal the damage done to your relationship with your children and that their minds will be restored to truth. I trust that Judge Williams will act justly and with dispatch. It does seem that she might be somewhat unhappy with Ms. Evans involvement with your children and this may increase her motivation to redress your grievances.

While I certainly hope that Tonya succeeds in ALL of her lawsuits, I would be even more elated if the monies came straight out the pockets, bank accounts, pensions, personal property, and other assets of the Three Stooges and culpable CAC witnesses rather than the Catoosa County and State of Georgia taxpayers' wallets. Yes, I realize that, unfortunately, it is generally impossible to hold agents of the State personally liable for their misconduct committed under the color of authority (I'd be elated to hear that I'm misinformed about this; can any attorneys out there confirm or deny?), but my libertarian core beliefs demand that punishment be served upon and remuneration for wrongs taken from the the individuals who actually committed these wrongs rather than the organizations of which they are a part, especially if said organizations are funded by taxpayers innocent of any wrongdoing in this case (and who, of course, have already been robbed by the State in the form of taxation to pay for the operation of these entities).

I agree the Wilsons,Lambs & Boyds have made their beds so LAY IN IT.And yes find a new school we dont wan't any of you around to warp our children.

Anonymous said...

All, first of all, everyone should always be vigilant when it comes to protecting your children. I do NOT believe for one second that true child molesters are sitting around thinking, "hmmmm, they are being watched now, and even if I get caught, they will be lenient." NOPE, Not gonna happen. Please realize that the problem in this district has been that it didn't matter if you actually were a molester or not. If you pled out, you did so to lesser charges. What this means is that the people who did have evidence against them & should be locked up forever, usually are released within 2 years. YES, you heard that right. This is why the "conviction" rate is so high for the LMJD. They do not care & have never cared about "punishing child molesters". They care about accusing & then accepting plea bargains.

So please don't get crazy people! We need to fix this system. Period. The bad guys were out there before, during and after Tonya's trial. We have to make this right. We have to fight for the people who aren't given many options. We need to fight for the innocent to be free & the guilty to be put away (& not for their little stints). We need to be monitors for our system & make sure this doesn't happen in our community again. What's more, if we see it happening in another community, we need to fight just as hard, as many have in Tonya's case.

Justine Valinotti said...

To William Anderson: Thank you for all of your diligence in keeping people's eyes on the injustices Tonya Craft has suffered. As with the Duke non-rape case, you pursued and exposed the truth, which is the only job we have besides loving each other. (Yes, I admit, I very often fail at the latter and handle the former ineptly.)

To Tonya Craft: If experience is our teacher, then courage is what detrmines who can teach and who were learn. You were probably a fine teacher before your ordeal, now you are a teacher par excellence. I teach, and you have taught me. Thank you.

I will tell you this. If nothing else was learned in this tragedy, it is, you better be dang careful who you allow in your house for any length of time. I have heard about the "sue happy" people for many, many years, but my mind always told me that was in case someone "got hurt" taking a step up the steps. I never even fathomed the consequences of what could happen in a situation like this. I am a public servant, and have been my entire adult life... Everyone knows that all people in Authority stand a worse chance in a kangaroo court because of the authoritative position being used against you. It is very fortunate that my children are all grown. As a single father who had sole-custody of his children, I would never again allow any other child to stay in my home for any length of time after watching all of this unfold. I guess in hindsight, i am very lucky that some kid didn't go screaming "he touched me" back then. I didn't and do not have the means to mount a worthy defense, so i guess I would have just been at the mercy of a LMJC flunky public defender. I praise God for not having to endure all that Tonya has had to endure.

Does anyone remember Kelly Michaels, a pre school teacher at Wee Care Pre School in New Jersey who was convicted for sexually molesting the children she cared for???

In 1984 Kelly Michaels was arrested based on one four year old boys casual comment; "...thats what teacher [Michaels] does to me at nap time", as a nurse who was "rubbing his back" explained that she was going to take his temperature rectally. The boys mother immediatly thought the worse and called the school and police. [Long story short] An investigation was launched...Sixteen months later Michaels was indicted on 235 counts of sexual misconduct. Accusations of rape, nudity in the class room, licking peanut butter from childrens genitals, making them drink urine...By the time her trial began she had been labled a "Monster" and was the most hated woman in America.

The ten month trial was filled with inconsitencies and questionable legal tactics of the prosicution and judge. There was never any substantiated evidence of abuse but the prosecution portrayed Michaels as "deviously charming". The judged in the trial allowed children to testify on closed circuit tv while sitting on his lap and denied the deffense experts the opportunity to cross examine the children. A child therapist for the prosecution testified that the children who denied being molested by Michaels suffered from "child sexual abuse accommodation syndrome",(huh!?!?)...A condition that makes them deny abuse, she even went on to say that the more they denied the abuse the more certain it was that the abuse occured.
Michaels was found guilty on 115 counts of assault, sexual abuse, and terrorist threats and sentenced to 47 years in prison. Five years later a state appellate court overturned the conviction. Further more the New Jersey State Supreme Court upheld the appellate court's decision, stating the original conviction was an outrage, writting that all 20 children had been led, bribed or threatened to testify against Michaels.
Unfortunaltly...even though Michaels was no longer a prisoner, she remained a "marked women" and never could reclaim a normal life by those who had accused her of being a "social deviant", even after a declaration of innocents from such a powerful body (a state supreme court).

.........

I think that all of us feel the need and desire to protect children from harm and those who have proved themselves dangerous. However, it seems as though we have gotten ahead of ourselves in this quest...Abandoning a system that, though we admit is not perfect, we'd rather rest on our laurels when we've been right than face the challenge of when we have been wrong...learning from our mistakes; mistakes that come from ignorance, knee jerk reactions, and the lust for vengence...There is no justice in such lusts, no matter who or what it is for.

I applaude the jury for being able to see through the political mucky muck and uphold justice by protecting the innocent based on evidence that does not prove otherwise.
I applaude Tonya Craft for her bravery and willingness to speak out regarding the unprofessional, reckless, and egotist ways of those in power.
...yes, what happened to Tonya can happen to anyone...In fact it happened to me, but with a much more unfortunate outcome.

"Two entire days of the trial were devoted to examining a single homosexual experience that Ms. Michaels had during her freshman year at college, and the fact that she had enrolled in a drama class. The prosecution was obviously hoping that the homophobia of some jurors would increase their chances of getting a conviction. Nobody seem to realize that if Kelly had a homosexual experience with another adult, it was much less likely that she was an abusive pedophile."

3 of the defense attorneys were on the local Judy O'Neal show discussing the absence of note-taking. Just so everybody knows, they were in support of this decision. They wanted the jurors to WATCH the witnesses on the stand and not be so focused on taking notes. Also, because they might have documented some things via shorthand of sorts and therefore recalled the testimony incorrectly. Once they explained, I definitely could understand their way of thinking. Just think how much of the eye-rolling, quirky behavior they would have missed out of the prosecution "experts" if they had been concentrating on note-taking and not testimony.

I am in agreement with some of the above posters that any money paid in restitution come not from any government agency but rather from the private individuals responsible. Georgia can hardly afford to pay for essential services. It was foolheardy people working for the government who wasted government money to bring this to trial in the first place. A message needs to be sent that a person in a position of power cannot hide behind the government to act witn impunity against private citizens. If you are an IRS agent and you use your position in a corrupt manner against private citizens, government money should not be used to pay off the victim, but rather the person who did it. I have seen too many times when someone acted wrongly, and because they were a member of a government agency they never paid a dime but the government paid millions. As for the whole 'sue happy' attitudes of people these days, I hope that Ms Craft does receive full compensation for what she went through. And, I would like to see her be a better example of humanity by not suing for multiple millions of dollars, at least not from the government, and not in any way that an insurance company would have to pay.

I have said it before and I say it again, a law needs to be passed that when a person is accused of a crime and it is proven that at some point the accusers, investigators or prosecutors lied in order to bring the charges, that the person who committed the fraud be made to spend the same amount of time in jail that the accused would have, OR pay to the accused 1/2 of their net income for the same amount of time. In other words, Deal, Arnt and Goering would either spend the rest of their lives in prison or they would pay to Craft 1/2 of their income for the rest of their lives. I think that more just than any other option, including a lawsuit...this way no insurance company or government agency would have to take a hit on account of these guys actions.

liberranter 1:14 - You're comment about all "organized and incorporated churches" is a bit much. I will be the first to say that many Christians are doing church, not BEING the Church, but for you to say that everyone should avoid all of them is ridiculous. Yes, these people on the side of the prosecution acted like complete and total idiots, giving Christians a bad name, but that doesn't meand that all Christians who go to "organized and incorporated churches" are not "true believers". I checked out your website and saw what looked just like an "organized church"...it simply has a different face. Exact same worship service hours as many churches, same exact components to your meetings, etc. You did make a comment on the site about churches that are sound in teaching, but you still are not offering anything different from these churches. Regardless of where we meet or what the make-up of the people or the order of service, we can still make "church" into something it was never intended to be and something we go do, not something we live. I would encourage you to read the book "So You Don't Want to Go to Church Anymore" by Wayne Jacobsen. It is a story about this very thing. I appreciate your heart and mean no disrespect in my comments, but changing a location and what we call it, doesn't change what it truly is at the core.

As for what I just read in an above post regarding threatening the families of the accusers and their supporters, I beg of you to stop, and if you see it going on, tell them to stop.

This kind of behavior has no place in a society that stresses malice towards none and charity towards all. Instead of ostricizing them, riddiculing, or harassing them, we need to be PRAYING for them. On the cross, Christ prayed to his Father to forgive those who had killed him. How much less of Christians are we if we cannot practice forgiveness and compassion with those whose only connection to this is that a family member said or did something. It is entirely un-Christ-like. It is entirely un-American. it is entirely wrong. Leave the family members of the accusers and their supporters alone. They did not choose to have this thrust upon them.

Think of Lee's surrender at Appomattox. How much harder and more bitterly contested a struggle was that? Hundreds of thousands of people KILLED in that struggle. And yet, when what was left of Lee's rag-tag army marched through the double ranks of the Union Army, no deriding jeers, no words of malace, not even a cheer of jubilation of victory over a despised foe was heard. There was only reconciliation. Like with Lee's surrender, we must realize that the struggle that ripped us apart is now over. We are now fellow countrymen again. Those people who lost need words of comfort not derision. They need to be made to understand that what they did was wrong, but not in a forceful, harsh way. Let us not make the mistake of the radical reconstructionists and alienate them by concentrating on punnishment rather than rebuilding. Yes, they need to know they were wrong. They need to be punnished. But, let those who were victimized take care of that, using legal means. Let us not engage in behavior that only serves to feed the mistrust and disunity that has gotten us to this point. Ask yourself, if the people whose behavior has disgusted you have claimed to be Christians and then behaved opposite of how Christ would have acted, how different, how much more Christ-like would you be if you were not to forgive? I say that to not forgive, to not embrace your former enemies and show them true Christian kindness would be the greatest mistake you could make at this point. For if you do the right thing, your actions could be exactly what touches upon the strings of their hearts and leads them back into the walk with Christ that we all desire.

As an atheist, I would agree with Lame and ask everyone to back off of the kids. Up here in Massachusetts we have had 2 kids commit suicide after intense bullying at school. The kids don't deserve it and I don't think anyone would want that on their conscience.

As for the adults, just ignore them and civil. I think the worst punishment is knowing that the whole community knows you did wrong and no one will talk to you.

Anger = violence and that will only lead to trouble.

Just wanted to let people know that I received information from Tonya's mom about where the actual Tonya Craft Fund is located. I also called the bank to verify what people should do to donate:

Cornerstone Bank
ATTN: Barbara George
For Tonya Craft Fund
2280 Gunbarrel Rd.
Chattanooga, TN 37421
(423) 385-3150

If you can please spare $5 she needs $21,000 to get the transcripts to start the fight for justice.

She is going to be very busy this weekend trying to get ready for the custody battle so I know she likely can't make the picnic. However, we do plan to host a grand celebration at some point in the very near future. I hoe everyone who wishes to makes it to each event. I know Tonya appreciates it.

I agree with most of the posts that we need be better than those who cast stones at her. She has held her head high, and as I knew she always would - her concern was for the very children who accused her. (Though, I don't know if it is fair to really say THEY accused her if it was planted etc. I'm struggling with that.) Tonya is so noble, that I an actually see a conversation where she forgives the children one day. It will all take time. Her children are her top priority and I think we really need to remember that what we say about Chickamauga Elem, Miriam, the Wilson etc. needs to reflect what Tonya would say or do. Yes, we're "cronies" but we are classy like Tonya not trashy like....well, take your pick I guess. I'm not for one second defending or justifying - I just know Tonya is a woman of God and she would want us to ALL take the high road. Negativity breeds sorrow and we all have cause to celebrate. We witnessed a miracle. Let's rejoice in that.

However...in a final "low blow" I would like to disagree with the Greek tattoos - I think Gregor, Deal, Arnt and House need tattoos with arrows that say, "I'm with stupid!" Sorry. I'll stop now. :) Go out, enjoy the sunshine and praise God for our freedom. People call us a community divided - I have never felt so much of a part of something huge in my whole life. We came TOGETHER and look what happened.

Make donations, phone calls, etc…..

I feel sorry for the Lamb, Wilson, and Boyd children attending the school system. They can thank their parents for what they have to deal with at school. Mrs. Boyd should have considered the consequences of publically making statements about something that clearly is none of her business. It is always good to keep your nose out of other peoples personal business when you have your own embarrassing secrets. I don’t think I have to get into all of that. From reading the blogs, I would be embarrassed to show my face if I were her. I think the once desirable spot light of she received on camera doesn’t seem as enticing as it was before…..

I would also like to point out that instead of everyone writing negative posts on here about the Wilsons and the Lambs, I think you guys should be taking that energy to get meeting arranged with the Chickamauga City School system. Anon 4:59, who wrote, "If the high schoolers want to go after people than they have the right," you are dispicable. Children do NOT have the right to go to school and make fun of, harass, or cause any emotional distress to anyone of any sort at any time. As a victim of such behavior, I can tell you that it has long, far-reaching consequences. Think of this: in Utah there was a teacher who coached softball. On her team was a pretty 14 year old girl. Beck targeted the girl, seducing and then molesting her. This woman went to jail for her actions against the girl, and the girl ended up committing suicide. The girl did not kill herself because of the molestation alone. Rather, it was the teasing and harassment she received from other girls at school that drove her to hang herself. People like you, who see no problem with and encourage teasing and bullying in school are among the worst kind of parent possible. I'm sorry to have to use such strong language here, but as a victim, as a friend of other victims, as a teacher who has seen this happen to other children, I can say that it all comes from parents not instilling the basic values of dignity, humility, and empathy into their children. If you have a child who has at some time engaged in this behavior, that does not make you a bad parent. However, if your child repeatedly engages in this behavior and you either encourage or tolerate it, you are absolutely scum. I'm sorry, but it is true. We believe in the ideals that Locke and other enlightenment philosophers put forth, that as long as a person does not harm someone else, whatever they do is their own business, and nobody should tell them they can't do it. When your child is actively harming other children, and you do nothing to stop it, then you do not deserve to have children. I find it revolting that so-called Christians would allow or encourage this, the most un-Christ-like of behaviors. Shame on you. Shame.

Poston is an insider. There is now way he is going to pile on because he has to go back and present cases before House and go up against Gregor and House at some point. To attack any of those men would be to attack the very system of which he is part and parcel.

I would also add that he really knows no different than what he saw. Attorneys are among some of the most cynical I have ever met. What he saw was what he sees every time he walks into a courtroom. To expect him to call out the outrage against his compatriots in the LMJC would be asking too much.

Please dismiss his comments for what they are.

Just as when House today called his rulings "fair". In his mind, they were fair. While we all see willful criminal deprivation of constitutional rights, he sees business as usual. That's just the way they do it and they know no different.

Everyone should concentrate their energies on showing these people how wrong they are, and clean up the corruption that has permeated so deeply that it has become the norm.

I agree WRCB has been great coverage, but when you want (and are paying for) analysis from someone you don't go with someone who isn't neutral and has a vested interested in riding the fence the best he can. I thought WRCB's point that the cowardly lion Buzz Franklin and HAG are public servants, in some cases elected officials, and in all cases are paid by the taxpayers. Under those conditions, you don't get to pick up your ball and run home when you lose.

I also found House's "bring it on"-type off-camera talk about the potential federal investigation to be just whistling past the graveyard. He's done and he knows it, you could see it on his face for a fleeting second yesterday right before the verdict was read.

Finally, and some may disagree with me, based on the comments on WRCB of the jury foreman I find how the jury performed to be honest and true on a very difficult case. I do not find it honest and true to also publicly imply in carefully chosen words that they had serious problems with this whole process but are just going to leave that for someone else to fix without using the bully pulpit they have right now to help make it happen. To those of the jury, I would only say that the next Tonya may not have the same resources, etc. she did to mount an effective defense nor a jury as dedicated to the truth as you were. By passing the buck here, you did not fully serve justice to the extent you could.

To Lame @ 6:21:

Couldn't have said it better. There is no excuse for bullying.
Please raise strong hearted children who will fight for their religion, their family, their country and their passions, but never fight simply because something or someone is easily defeated.

And let us also raise children that will accept the finality of decisions. Tonya Craft was proven innocent. A jury's decision was and is the sole determinant of her fate. The sooner Tonya's detractors accept her innonence, the sooner our community can heal.

To both sides---

To forget is human, to forgive is divine.

The parent's that are on here need to get a life. You must not ever actually go inside the school building. Shea Beagles doesn't hang out with the Wilson's or the Lambs. Hey I have been in the school everyday this week and I have seen Shea several times. She isn't ugly to those families but she isn't overly friendly either. Leave them out of this. As far as Kristen Bradley if talking to your child's principal about a school event means I have my head up her ass then well I guess I do. In case you care. I support Tonya and I can't stand the Wilson's or the Lamb's. I hope the school system does something about them. I think you need to blame the people that caused this not the whole community.

In regards to the children, from what I understand, Boyd's child was actually the one being "not so nice", so the other teens finally had a chance to say something. Nevertheless, I would rather not see the kids going down to that level. Yes we should teach our kids to stand up for themselves, but at the same time, in a respectable way. It is hard when emotions run high, but there are ways to get to a person without screaming or yelling.

On the same note, but different school. My child attends Ringgold High School. One of her teachers is married to one of the teachers who testified for the prosecution. I did not tell my child this during the trial because I did not want her to feel uncomfortable. She followed it very closely, asked questions, formed her own opinions & said she would have loved to have Tonya as a teacher, but never put the last name of her teacher with the one who testified. Anyhoo, I grew up with her teacher & my sister & brother-in-law graduated HS with him. He was always nice to her until about 2 weeks ago. My daughter is a great student & has only missed one day of school (my choice, not hers). Even when she started coming home & telling me how this teacher's demeanor had changed towards her, I did not tell her anything. Well, today she came home & was a bit upset. She told me that the acquittal had come up in class & she made this comment: "I know the judge said no outbursts or emotion, but if I truly believed my child had been molested by Tonya, I would have showed, at least, some emotion. I think it showed that they knew they were wrong. In fact, my mother would have never let it go to trial, she would have handled things herself." The teacher snapped up & said, "let me tell you, we are very good friends with 2 of the accusers & there were a lot of things that didn't come out. They are hurting over this, very badly."
My daughter said, "I'm sorry, and I do feel sorry for the kids, but not their parents." Also, if you knew my child, you would know that she said this very calmly. She's rather shy.

When she told me about this today, my jaw dropped. I sat her down & explained to her about his wife testifying for the prosecution. She asked, "mom, do you think that is why he has been acting differently towards me? I know you write on that blog & have said things on Facebook, do you think he saw them?"

For me, this is a problem. A huge problem. Another thing, this mere 15 year old asked was, "isn't the prosecution pretty much allowed to bring in all of the evidence since they are the ones who have to prove someone guilty?" Wow, she knows more about the laws of this land than a lot of adults.

Here is my problem, CES & the administrators claim that there is no bias. They have claimed that Mrs. Bradley was simply taking notes for school & "supporting" all of her staff while she was in the courtroom writing, which no one else was allowed to do. I'm really not buying it now. The teacher who testified was biased, as her husband admitted today that they were close friends with 2 of the accusers. My child should not be punished for a.) my opinions & b.) their biased opinions.

Bill, I know you think a great deal of Mrs. Bradley as a former student, but one thing this case has taught us is this; people aren't always who you think they are. No exceptions. Even though I know a lot of people involved in this case, from both sides, it has shown me the light on some. Others, I do not worry about, but when it affects my child at school, it now becomes a problem. Luckily, my daughter has big plans & even before the Craft trial. She plans on attending UGA & becoming a lawyer. She has always wanted to fight for the good people & now, she is even more determined. Btw, she has also given me permission to slap her if she ever thinks it's about money. :-)

As a life long resident of Chickamauga, I am disgusted and embarrassed by all the hateful comments directed at individuals, families, and especially children at our school. None of the families that have been mentioned on this blog have been anything but supportive to the school system. ALL the children in the system benefit from the generousity of parents, whomever they are. Let's try practicing some of that Christianity that has been criticized on this blog. Whoever is WITHOUT sin, cast the first stone.

I know Jeff Beagles casually and I know Shea pretty well. I can just about guarantee you that Shea will be nice to anyone and everyone because that is the way she was raised. As far as the gossip mongers on here that are determined to put thoughts and words in the Beagles' mouths, I can only guess that you operate a competing business and cannot match the quality and the service that I get at Choo Choo. That or perhaps you wrote a bad check and were actually expected to make it good. I really have no idea. My advice is this; keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it (or type it on here) and remove all doubt!

you definitely do not have kids down here.you need to keep your opinion to yourself.we as parents are trying to protect our kids,i'm sorry but these so called helpers of the school is doing nothing but hurting our school. i don't care how much time they volenteer they are trash.20 years ago when your kids were here it may have different, but many things have changed.bottom line we want the Lambs,Mcdonalds,Boyds&Wilsons out of here.Maybe you're friends of there's.

Again, guys, I do not want to use this blog for local bloodletting. While I know there are bad feelings abounding, the purpose of this blog is not to deal with the problems in the school system, but rather to deal with problems in the JUSTICE system.

With that, I think we were successful precisely because I had the help of people like Kerwyn and others who believed this case was a sham. Also, these people helped me with the evidence, looking at time lines, and demonstrating that this was a horribly-flawed case that NEVER should have gone to trial.

So, that is why I am doing this. While I thoroughly disapprove of what some of the families did, nonetheless, they are not the focus of this blog.

No i have not written a bad check to choo choo bbq. Nor do I have a resturant, however I know Shea and Jeff hang out with the Boyds, Lambs, Wilsons, and Bradleys. All of whom we are trying to get rid of. You have to be careful what side you choose!!! Watch what you say.

Horsehead strikes again!!! I was actually told by a national media member that they were warned to avoid the "stalker" named Miriam Boyd. Apparently Inside Edition was stupid enough to put her back on television, again. Please Mariam, go back to chasing your husband's affairs and get your mug off the tube.

Anonymous said...

You know, for Ms. Boyd to keep commenting about the stories of the supposed victims shows that she must have slept through the expert testimony.

Anonymous said...

So here's another reason not to like MIRAM BOYD- Again Mrs. Boyd was just on Inside Edition running her upper lip about the case. A case that has nothing to do with her. Miram needs to learn to SHUT UP AND MIND HER OWN BUSINESS!!

Back to justice, Bill can or will you also follow the case of the PI that was arrested while working for Tonya? Is there any chance of getting the charges dropped by pressure from a higher court?

Anonymous said...

Come on folks lets honor Tonya and Mr. Anderson by keeping the main thing the main thing. Tonya and Mr. Anderson are very honorable people and we need to remember how they have acted during this whole miserable fiasco...

volfan69 said...

Mr. Anderson, I was wondering about a couple of things. Do you have any idea how long it will take Tonya to go to court in order to try to regain custody of her children? Also, will you be writing soon to let us know what we were missing and didn't know about what was going on behind the scene as this trial moved forward? This is another excellent article by you and I very much appreciate it and you. I look forward to reading more, learning more, and trying to contribute any way I can. Thanks, Bobb

I know that emotions are running high tonight. I hope none of you mind that I say a prayer for all of us to remain calm and stay true to what we really believe in for all of our sakes.

You all have a right to walk at the GLHS horseshoe every morning. Miriam does. Wear YELLOW!

Everyone has a right to walk around the GLHS horseshoe at 8am weekdays. I suggest you wear YELLOW!

Its amazing how many times you can tell someone this blog is not about getting folks to change school inrolement. Give us a break, if you wrote as many letters to the ones in charge as you have blogs you might get some attention. Noone here can yank them out for you. My advice would be is politly ask some on here to help sign a pettion and you can go to the school board. No offense I'm just saying.

johnlichtenstein said...

Can I ask people to post a heasdup here when TC shows up on Today or Oprah and such?

And please listen to Dr Anderson about the local bloodletting. Douse the torches and put the pitchforks in the shed. There are good people on the wrong side of any fight and Tonya wouldn't want people shunned because they fell for carefully crafted lies.

William L. Anderson said...

Volfan69 (Yes, Go Vols!!)

I'll be covering that material as it comes available to me, and as I get a complete picture. As for the custody issue, who knows how long that will take.

Now, I am sure that Judge Marie Williams is not happy that Laurie Evans gave her, essentially, the middle finger and I hope that at the very least she cites Evans for contempt and deals with her accordingly. Someone already has turned in Evans to the licensing board of Tennessee and will doing the same to the Georgia licensing board. It is my fervent hope that Evans' days as a LSW are over. She has done immeasurable damage.

Actually, I have to figure where all this is going to go. I'm hearing from other people about other cases and have to get my bearings on what will be the best direction for the blog.

There is no way I can go at the pace I went during the trial of Tonya, as my family would feel utterly neglected. Thus, I will have to better pace myself, now that this phase is over.

But, given I picked up 120 new followers during this trial, I will need to keep posting stuff, as well as keep up posts on my Krugman-in-Wonderland blog. (That's easy; just react to something that Krugman writes.)

First, the Sarah Henke chick-oh yeah shes a freak-shaving her crotch with her stepdaughter in the shower! Totally agree with the earlier post! I don't think she has very much support either and-her fb page is nothing but references to god and being so christian-smokescreen!!! We don't buy it Sarah. Second, MIRIAM has been the but of so many jokes and she has not even a dog in the fight! Mind your own business and why don't you get a job!! I can't wait to see her somewhere in public-not to worry I'm not a violent person-just want a laugh!! Third, the accusers and Miriam of course need to pull your kids out of that school because you know how mean kids can be and actually you can blame yourselves for that! You knew it would happen! Just please don't bring them to Ringgold, we don't want yall here!

Anonymous said...

Bull crap Jeff Beagles you do run in these circles why else would you be so affraid.Everyone knows you are in the inner circle.

Anonymous said...

The Boyds, Wilsons, Mcdonalds, Lambs, and the Beagles are in a tight knit that all run together. So everybody wake up and take a look at what's happening. They ALL GOSSIP ABOUT US!! So why can't we talk about them. They ALL need to get over themselves and just grow up. Also remove your children from our school, because none of you even live in CHICKAMAUGA, GA!

Anonymous said...

Why should we not talk about Miriam Boyd? All Miriam does is run her mouth. Even after she's told reapeatedly to shut up she still doesn't get the hint. Once again she runs her mouth all the way to the editor of the Walker County Messenger. So like I said if she can run her mouth, then WE can run ours!

I support Tonya, and I also have a mother-in-law...just like Jeff Beagles. The only thing you all have "proven" to link him to anyone is "that his mother in law sat on the prosecution's side." I can't control my mother in law. Can you? Furthermore, I don't want to control my mother in law. If you like Choo Choo BBQ...eat there. If you don't, find a blog for restuarant critiques.

I agree we all need to boycott wilsons funeral homes and write the local hospitals and say we don't want to be transported by angel ambulance and boycott duplicator supply.

Anonymous said...

For those of you reading who don't live around here, after reading the latter part of this thread, are you starting to get an idea of how the whole Tonya Craft witch hunt started and then just fed on itself?

As someone pointed out above, if people would put this much effort into actually standing up to solve a problem instead of fanning the flames by sniping back and forth, life would be a lot better around here for all of us.

Anonymous said...

I hope like hell to boycott both ambulance services and the funeral homes as long as possible.

Just saying.

kbp said...

As Bill has, I have followed many cases over the past couple decades. Over time you'll meet people who are similar to yourself in many ways and sometimes stay in touch after the case is over.

The comment and chat boards came into the picture for those that follow cases, it is a wonderful tool for so many to use in sharing their thoughts, ideas, theories ..on the cases. It really helps to better inform us.

When the cases are in play, prior to the verdict, it boards form like a big family with what I call a common enemy - the verdict we all oppose. The majority are the type of person that wants to say how they feel, what they think ...and a few other things some may NOT want to think about!

Following the reading of a verdict, or some other means that ends the trial, the status of discussion ALWAYS changes. The emotions are still there for many, but the topics lose focus of what brought all together in the first place and they direct that emotion to new topics.

You're seeing some started here today. As always, there will be traits we all see in others here that we may not like, just never noticed them when we were all in agreement. For the record, I have no idea if there is any way to prevent the disagreements that come with it.

I will say that for all which live within the area that the courthouse serves, it would be GREAT if you could direct some your focus on stepping up to force the Children’s Advocacy Center to improve their operations. Even Tonya has stated that this is a part of her goals.

Contact kathispray@yahoo.com so she may put together a group to look into fixing one of the biggest problems Tonya's case uncovered.

My prediction to a friend today was that the people of Chickamauga will "cannibalize" themselves on the comments here. Sure didn't take long for that to happen. To the people that think Chickamauga really is some 21st century version of Mayberry, I can only say that you either have your head in the sand, or you are incredibly naive. If you want to know what Chickamauga is really like, I suggest you watch the movie "Roadhouse" and see how the power in that town was structured. One man runs Chickamauga. Everybody else answers to him. Like it or not, that's the truth. Proof of that is out there, it's just being kept hush, hush right now, but when it's announced, it will be obvious that what matters in Chickamauga isn't what you know, but who.

LOL!!

I've been trying to avoid Wilson's Funeral Home for years

...well, truth is all funeral homes!

Anonymous said...

Has he been called Old Chickamauga Power on the schoolboard on this forum today?

Why can't you people figure this out?

If you say his name will Voldemort appear?

William L. Anderson said...

Yeah, I make it a personal policy to boycott ambulances and funeral homes. I cannot say that I have had had to use a funeral home for my own burial yet!!

I'm not so lucky with ambulances, as I have had a few rides in my lifetime, although I try not to make it a habit! However, if I am in a wreck and someone from Wilson's ambulance service comes by, I probably won't turn them down! (If they find out who I am, however, they might refuse service to me!!)

I am embarrassed for all the people on this blog that are bad mouthing innocent, caring, and TRUE christian people. I am a teacher, not at Chickamauga, and today at work you wouldn't believe what I saw! My principal, like Kristen Bradley, talked to parents and students. I guess that means they are biased to the students and parents they talked to as well. I also guess it means that the parents and students were kissing my principal's bottom. I feel the need to tell you that I was using sarcasm. Based on your comments about Kristen Bradley, the Beagles, and Joni Kithas I doubt you are intelligent enough to figure it out on your own. On a more serious note, Kristen Bradley talks to parents and students because it is her JOB!!! She is a great person, teacher, and principal. ALL of you on here that are gossiping and hurting innocent people with your words, are no better than the people you claim are ruining the Chickamauga City Schools!

You don't have a clue how things work at chickamauga elem. Don't feel sorry for Kristen Bradley, you would not believe how courpt things are down here it does not work this way at other schools so do not judje us when things are WRONG OVER AND OVER.

I am Jeff Beagles' mother-in-law's co-worker. I know that she has worked full time at the same job for at least 20+ years. She did not miss one day of work during the Tonya Craft trial. I was unable to attend the trial either since I work full time too, but I did see Tonya at Richard's restaurant several times and took the time to tell her and her defense team that based on the evidence that I'd read she was innocent, an opinion I still maintain.
I don't know who you are, but whoever has this vendetta against the Beagles, you are an absolute moron. Jeff's mother-in-law did not attend one minute of the trial. If I were Jeff, I would be thrilled to have a mother-in-law that is as fine a Christian as Shea's mom. Why don't you leave these people alone and go after the real villains in this case? Or take advantage of the fact that Jeff was man enough to give you his phone number and call him and discuss it?

I actually do have a clue how things work in Chickamauga. I said I didn't teach at Chickamauga. I never said I didn't live in Chickamauga, and I didn't mention that sevearal members of my family attend Chickamauga City schools. I am a graduate of Gordon Lee High School. I also know from PERSONAL experience that Kristen Bradley is a great person, teacher, and principal. Once again, you are only showing your ignorance.

Kristin Bradley is not a great person she is tight with all the families were all trying to get rid of.She is buddies with the Lambs,Boyds,Wilsons,Mcdonalds & the Beagles. We all want you all to leave & take your kids to another school.

I stand corrected about the mother in law. The mother in law info was on this blog previously. I posted in support of Beagles and his restaurant. I eat there and will continue to do so. I will again say, if you want to discuss restaurants go to a FOOD BLOG.

I heard someone ate 32 pieces of catfish on the all you can eat. Since Beagles is on this blog, could you please deny or verify if that actually happened. You should do some man vs food challenge with ribs and catfish.
